The “Gion Festival,” a major event in Narita City that attracts 450,000 visitors annually, will be held from Friday, July 10, to Sunday, July 12. A summer tradition in Narita City, this festival is a magnificent summer celebration steeped in history and tradition. Floats, food stalls, and portable shrines adorned with intricate carvings and traditional decorations parade through the streets, offering different charms by day and night. During the day, the floats and stalls tour the city, and at night, they are illuminated, transforming into a fantastical sight as they gather on the Naritasan Omotesando. Amidst the excitement of the crowds, the festival reaches its climax.

This is a special opportunity to participate in the Narita Gion Festival by pulling a traditional float alongside local residents. Walking through the streets with the float while listening to the sounds of drums and flutes and the energetic chants allows you to experience the joy of the festival up close—something you can’t fully appreciate just by watching. It’s a day-trip cultural experience perfect for those who want to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a Japanese summer festival in a short amount of time.

・The float-pulling takes place outdoors. Please take precautions against the heat.

・Please wear comfortable, well-worn shoes and clothing that allows for easy movement.

・We will provide you with a happi coat, which is essential for adding to the festive atmosphere and creating a sense of unity.

・An interpreter guide fluent in English or Chinese will accompany you and provide explanations throughout the float-pulling experience.
